Sensei Kelly Williams, 6th Dan

Sensei Kelly Williams began her karate training as a child and has continued training, teaching and learning ever since. Her successful tournament career was highlighted by being a member of the United States karate team at the 2001 World Karate Championships.

 

Sensei Williams has a degree in Education and Special Ed., and is a partner and head instructor for the Martial Arts America schools in Rochester, NY.

Sensei Meaghan Murray, 6th Dan

Sensei Meaghan Murray began Isshin-Ryu Karate 1992 at the age of 7 at Sensei Curt Sawyer’s Spencerport dojo. She received her Black Belt in 1996 at age 10. An avid competitor, Sensei Murray has competed in over 50 tournaments including the Karate and Kobudo World Championships in Okinawa, Japan in 2003 and the KIAI Grand Nationals in 2004 and 2005.

 

Sensei Murray was promoted to her current rank of 5th Dan in 2009. She currently attends SUNY Brockport for Social Work and is the Office and Floor Manager at Samurai Martial Arts. She loves to travel and spend time with friends and family.

 

Sensei Meaghan Murray

 

Sensei Shirley Sawyer, 5th Dan

Sensei Shirley Sawyer began Isshin-Ryu Karate classes at age 6. She received her Black Belt in 1996 at age 11. Sensei Sawyer has traveled throughout the country competing karate tournaments including the AAU Junior Olympics in 2002, the AAU National Championships in 2003 and the Karate and Kobudo World Championships in Okinawa, Japan in 2003. She was most recently promoted to her current rank of 5th Dan in 2010.

 

Sensei Sawyer graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2007 with a BFA in Graphic Design. She is currently working full time as the Design and Marketing Coordinator at Hoselton Auto Mall in East Rochester, NY.

 

Sensei Shirley Sawyer

 

Sensei Laura Sawyer, 4th Dan

Sensei Laura Sawyer began her training at Jennings Karate Academy in 1991. She was promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt by Sensei Curt Sawyer in 1995. She has competed in many Isshin-Ryu Karate Tournaments, being successful in Kata, Weapons, and Sparring. She has also trained with Grandmaster Angi Uezu.

 

Laura worked at Samurai Martial Arts as an instructor for many years. She was recently promoted to 4th Degree Black Belt in 2010. Laura currently works full time as the Salon Manager for J.C. Penney.
